Inside the Écru atelier

Our story

A wardrobe, considered

Écru began with a frustration: a wardrobe full of clothes and nothing worth keeping. We set out to make the opposite — a small set of essentials, cut well, in fabrics that age gracefully.

Everything we make starts with the cloth. We work directly with mills across Europe and Japan, choosing fibres for how they feel after a hundred wears rather than how they photograph on day one. The result is quieter than fashion and built to outlast it.

Lifetime mending
“We would rather make one coat you keep for a decade than ten you forget by spring.”

Mara Lindqvist — Founder

01Materials

Natural fibres sourced from mills we know by name — merino from Scotland, linen from Italy, cotton grown without synthetics.

02Craft

Small production runs in family-run workshops, finished by hand. We would rather make less and make it properly.

03Responsibility

Garments built to be repaired, not replaced. We offer free mending for life on every piece we make.
